Convert to Picture frame for all placed file formats

I like the new (I think?) 'Convert to Picture frame' for a placed jpegs, and I expect it's already on the list, but can it be added for any placed file types: tiff, pdf, png, bmp, svg...

Actually it would be good if there was an option to automatically create a frame for placed images - maybe in preferences?
