How to invert layer in Photo on the iPad?

Recommended Posts

I was watching the excellent Tone Mapping Portraits tutorial by @James Ritson and was curious how to achieve the invert layer on the iPad when applying the unsharp mask and high pass filters so you can paint in the effect only on the eye region. Does anyone know how this is done? Alternatively a version of the tutorial for the iPad would be a great comparison video.

Pretty easy once you know how. Add your mask and select the mask in the layers studio. Now tap the channels studio and tap on the 3 dots to the right of the mask alpha layer. Select invert layer from the pop up menu. Return to mask layer and paint away with white brush to reveal what is covered by mask.

I don’t have the three dots on my version. I’m trying to invert a mask but it’s not letting me with long press either. :/ Is there a way to do this?

You need to be in the channels studio.
