Use of Scanner

Recommended Posts

My 2 cents: It always has been an „unwritten law“ in DTP, to place images just by linking them. Embedding images by using „drag and drop“  or direct scanning causes many issues and has serious drawbacks. I personally don‘t see any reason, why scanning directly into a document should make sense. I say this, although I am aware, that the image handling of „Publisher“ (unembed, transfer to „AffPhoto“, …) reduces some possible issues. Nevertheless: If you want control about your document and the integrated assets, you should always link images instead of embedding them.

I hear what you are saying and I agree with you. For very long documents that is.

However, there are situations where embedding images makes perfect sense, when you have a document with a very few pages, like a flyer, leaflet, ad, etc.
