Effects on text blocs

Recommended Posts

I apply shadows to text and text boxes by clicking on the "Effects" icon inside the LAYERS panel... all the way down of the Layers panel section, there is an icon that looks like an italics "FX"... select the text or text box, then click on the FX icon (layer effects) and on the dialog box that will pop up, put a check mark on "Outer Shadow" and play with the controls until you get the kind of shadow you lie.

Hi fde101,
Converting a shape to a text frame does the same thing. You are getting a different result because you are starting with a shape filled with colour. If you go to the Text Frame panel and select a Fill colour for it,  the outer drop shadow will "switch" to the text frame instead of the text itself giving you the same result as a converted shape.
