Castle Al
Hi folks, Wondering if it is, or will be, possible to add shadows and/or distorsions directly around the text boxes (not only "text effects", but "text box effects"), without having to use extra framing that will not work well when a book migrantes from peintes to e-pub. LFTV
I apply shadows to text and text boxes by clicking on the "Effects" icon inside the LAYERS panel... all the way down of the Layers panel section, there is an icon that looks like an italics "FX"... select the text or text box, then click on the FX icon (layer effects) and on the dialog box that will pop up, put a check mark on "Outer Shadow" and play with the controls until you get the kind of shadow you lie. Castle Al
Hello, Yes, but this affects the text and not the box itself (border). What about having the usual text within its own framed and/or shadowed ground (Without having to add an extra background that will bug on e-pub export). Picture: Illustrates the opposit of wished effect.
fde101
Instead of using a text box, create a shape instead and with it selected, select Convert to Text Frame from the Layers menu. Apply the effects to that, and add text to it just like you would with a text box.
Staff MEB Posted September 14, 2018 Staff Share Posted September 14, 2018 Hi fde101, Converting a shape to a text frame does the same thing. You are getting a different result because you are starting with a shape filled with colour. If you go to the Text Frame panel and select a Fill colour for it, the outer drop shadow will "switch" to the text frame instead of the text itself giving you the same result as a converted shape.
