Hi,

A "Picture Properties" could be upgraded with another field where the user could enter the DPI value under which the picture can't be resized and the rest of the frame (if bigger) would be empty.

Why these properties don't work with pictures entered directly with "Place..."?

Sorry, I don't know why so many images are insterted. I attached it only once and I can't find the option to remove them.

Hi Petar,
I've fixed the post, no worries. Regarding your question images placed directly with the File ▸ Place command or the Place Image Tool are inserted as Image layers (like in Designer) and not as picture frames (which is what offers these scale properties options). If you want to use the File ▸ Place command or the Place Image Tool for this make sure you already have a picture frame created then drop the image over it and it will be inserted inside the picture frame.

Hello MEB:

Thank you for the explanation. I was incredibly confused as to why I couldn't access the same options with the arrow tool on two different jpgs.

If I place an image versus creating a picture box first and inserting, what is the reason for having different options for the images?

I may be wrong, but this is what I've found:

Image 1 — When creating a picture box first and then inserting a photo, Properties becomes available, and you can resize and move the photo within the frame.

Image 2 — If you drag a photo into the document or place it, you don't have access to Properties and can only resize the image proportionally and rotate it.

Thanks,

Peter

The options available in the context toolbar (Properties button, Corner type and radius, Lock Children checkbox etc) when you select a picture frame (with an image inside or not) are attributes of the picture frame object itself, not the image. If you expand the picture frame in the layers panel and select the image inside and compare with another image without a picture frame you will see the options for the object selected (in this case the image itself) will match.
