keithsloan Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 I would like to see a feature which made it easier to select the best image. I often end up with two very similar photo's and would like some way to view them both at the same time so that I can then decide which is the better image. I am not aware of any other software that offers this very common requirement and it would be great if Affinity Photo could lead the way

Lightroom, which is the only management software I've used so far, certainly has a comparison view.
PaulAffinity Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 These are DAM features and not photo editor features. LR is a DAM with hybrid edit functions. AP is a photo editor not a DAM. Enjoy!
PaulEC Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Open two photos, go to "Window" and then "Float All". (You may have to adjust sizes/positions manually.) A bit "faffy", but it works! xmarc999 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 If I color correct two photos, and they are intended to be shown together (in my case, a product shoot), the two photos' color needs to be in line with each other. So side by side viewing while editing one is very useful. PaulEC suggestion sounds good, though I don't see a "Float All" under Window. (There is a "Clean Up Floating Windows…" which implies you can float them.) What did work was Window/Separated Mode. Definitely "faffy" as each window, including the panels, float over whatever other app is open in the background. But it worked. I still wouldn't mind having a split view function. A DAM is fine for quickly reviewing a set of images to pick out the 3 or 4 you really want to work with, but does not solve the issue of adjusting 2 or more photos to share a desired look. iMac 2017 Intel Core i7 32GB RAM, macOS Mojave 10.14 Radeon Pro 580 - 8GB

ashf Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 I recommend to use XnView which has comparing view side by side. View of left/right will be synchronized.(position and zoom)
