R C-R Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 From what I can tell, this may be a Windows only bug, at least for Designer. However, this is what I get with Photo: (Just noticed the misspelling of scale in the screenshots; should not matter for clarity) Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.5.7 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7
Aammppaa Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 @R C-RI have just tried your test on Designer in Win7 with perplexing results! First off, if Scale with Object is enabled the effect always doubles, which is correct. With Scale with Object turned off I repeatedly drew the two objects (100px and 200px), created the Outer Shadow, then copied and pasted the effect from smaller to larger object. Here are the results from 5 attempts… 1.7px <- The effect actually shrank when applied to an object twice the size. 9px 8.7px 5.2px 7.6px Make of that what you will! firstdefence Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Hi guys coming back into the post late, been editing a load of images I did on a photo shoot. Anyway, the logic for "Scale with object" is that whatever fx or styles have already been applied, will grow or shrink with the object as it is being scaled, it should not have anything to do with pasting an fx to another object else it would be called "Paste and Scale". To copy I just use ⌘+C and then select the layer I want to paste the fx to and use ⌃+⌘+V Aammppaa 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... In my test every object was created by typing the dimensions into the transform panel. Why do you assume incompetence rather than accept there is a (Windows specific) bug? abject39 Posted September 11, 2018 Author Posted September 11, 2018 So is there a way to make this thing paste the actual values copied or is it forever going to scale the values I copy into it? Quote
abject39 Posted September 11, 2018 Author Posted September 11, 2018 I've been trying super hard not to get rid of Affinity products but it seems there's just no way to avoid Adobe if you want to get things done without hassle. Quote
Staff Lee D Posted September 11, 2018 Staff Posted September 11, 2018 We are aware of an issue with copying layer effects from one object to another and it not keeping the original settings and it's logged with the developers. firstdefence and danmerey 1 1 Quote
Aammppaa Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 @>|< my apologies. You are quite correct on all counts. It was late, I was tired, and I did indeed miss the point of your message. Annabella_K Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Any news about this? I'm still having this issue in all apps (Photo 1.8.2.620, Designer 1.8.3.641 and Publisher 1.8.3.641, on Windows 10). Very annoying. Quote
Kozaluss Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 Hello there. Just wanted to add, that I have the same issue with Win version. It would be best tho, if we had a switch on the toolbar, which would enable/disable scaling on paste style/paste fx. This way when I want it to scale, it would scale. And when I do not want that - which is in most cases - I would turn that off. I think both options are useful. Quote
