Affinity (Windows) and its layers' issue

Recommended Posts

After searching on the forum and over the Internet for a solution to my problem, it seems that I have to resort in requesting some help from fellow Affinity enthusiasts.

It seems that I encounter rather a peculiar issue with my Windows version of Affinity Photo: the same PSD file which I open with Affinity Photo (Mac, latest version) on my laptop, where I can edit every text and I can see each of its multiple layers, on my desktop (Windows 10 HOME), where I have installed Affinity Photo (Windows, latest version), I only see one flat JPG file. Do remember, it is the same PSD file that I try to open, file which I have bought from a major photo stock provider.

Can you please help me with dealing with the issue?

Hi c87,

Thanks for the file.

I'm not seeing the same issue as yourself.  I've attached a screenshot of the PSD open and i've opened up the layers, where you can see each layer.  One thing i'd suggest, just so you can edit the text, make sure under Preferences (Edit>Preferences>General) you have 'Import PSD text as text and not bitmap' .  That wouldn't help with not seeing the layers, but should help edit the text.

Can you post a screenshot of how that PSD open for you, making sure to include the layers tab in the screenshot :)

Hello again, stokerg, thank you for you reply and for taking time in order to verify and even post a print screen for it.

The fact remains that I can see/edit accordingly on my laptop (Mac), but on my desktop (Win 10), I cannot see any layer or even to be able to edit the text.

Might there be an issue with the version that I've installed and my MSFFT Win 10 HOME?

Should I try to reinstall and to downgrade Affinity Photo for Windows to a previous version? I must mention that I've tried to reinstall twice the current (last) version on my desktop, but without any luck so far.

I honestly doubt a reinstall will help and from what i know, we haven't had any reports of this happening before.

Can you post a screenshot where you have the PSD file open and it's showing the layers panel, that will help loads in trying to track down the problem :)

I can see about setting up a Virtual Machine with Win 10 Home edition to test this but i think the issue is elsewhere and not OS related.
