Style with Affinity Photo

Recommended Posts

Hello

How does one use style with Affinity Photo?

I tried Sunset, Rainbow and Salmon styles to photos and it does not work.

Please advise on adding styles to photos and where can one download style for Affinity Photo.

Thank you.

Hi Ekoh,

Styles when applied to an object change properties such as its fill and stroke colour and in some cases add layer fx. Please try one of your styles on a quick shape to see if that works for you :)

Thanks

Callum

Hi Ekoh,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Quick shapes are the shapes created with the rectangle or other smart shapes tools (see the icon below the Pen Tool - click the small arrow on the bottom right of that button to see a pop-up menu with the rest of the smart shapes available).

Styles cannot be applied to pixel layers which is probably what you are trying to do (see the label between parenthesis after the layer's name in the Layer's panel to identify the type of layer you are working with), but they can be applied to image layers (or to shapes and text layers as Callum mentioned/suggested).

Image layers are a special layer type that retains all the original image data - you can think of them as embedded images -. They are created when you use the Place Image Tool (in Affinity Designer only), the File ▸ Place command or when you simply drag them from the Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows) to the canvas of an opened document. They can be transformed globally (rotated, skewed etc) without losing quality but they cannot be edited/manipulated at a pixel level as pixel layers.

If you are looking for image effects you may also want to take a look at LUTs (adjustment). Here's some you can download/try shared by @MartinB78.
