Guides improvements across the 3 products

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I would like to see in all three Affinity products the following guide improvements:

  • The ability to set guide from right to left.
  • Able to set 0 in the middle of the page.
  • Fast switch with a button between the % the selected measurement unit and the right to left features

Another option could be for the left to right is on the top of the screen, as it is currently, and the right to left guide on the bottom of the screen. The same with the vertical guides on the left and right side.

It would be a greatly help with positioning under different circumstances.

You may ask, why would that be beneficial? One example is you are creating designs for left and right parts like shoes. The image between the left side design and the right one may not be a mirrored image. For example a logo of a company cannot be mirrored, most of the time, or text. Therefore most part of the design can be mirrored but the logo need to be precisely positioned so they end up at the same spot on the left and right shoes. To be able to do that currently you need to calculate the distances. With this proposed feature that could be done with a glance and less chance to introduce an error into the design. In the same shoe scenario, the left and right designs could be asymmetric but still need precise positioning within the printing boundaries and position to correct location on the designs.

I  hope we will see this feature in the future.
