Automatic lens correction with fully manual lenses?

Recommended Posts

Howdy, new user - very impressed so far.

I'm wondering if there is a way to use a fully manual lens - like the Samyang 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fish-eye, with the automatic correction profile.  Or at least a way to apply the profile manually (much better solution for me (as I have lots of manual lenses).

The lens IS the supported list of lenses in the lensfun database (pulling through the forums this appears to be the one you use)

http://lensfun.sourceforge.net/lenslist/

The problem is - for any of these manual lenses - the lens data is not reported to exif so it's not automagically applied.

Thanks for any help.

In a special application, for example ExifTool/ExifToolGUI, the data can be added.

The point being that you would have to add the lens information to the image's metadata manually (eg using ExifTool) BEFORE you open it in Affinity Photo.

There's quite a learning curve with ExifTool but it's platform agnostic and there's a very active support forum.
