I'm finding that when I try either to place a text file, or use the "insert text from file …" option in the contextual menu from a text frame, all my own files with text – docx, doc, rtf – are greyed out. I notice that in the tutorial videos they copy and paste text from TextEdit. I'm so surprised this feature isn't working, that I'm wondering if it's just my system. Running Beta 1.7.0.57 on OSX 10.13.6.

Any ideas?

I think that only txt and rtf are supported for Place and Insert Text at this point (and, perhaps for awhile). Copy/Paste from an application should work, though. Not sure why rtf didn't work for you.

For me, "Insert Text from File" works fine with txt & rtf text files, but both are greyed out for "Place."

@walt.farrell, your sig says you are running Windows. If that is correct, that may explain why we get different results. (This is the Report bugs in Publisher beta on Mac forum -- for Windows, things are probably a bit different.)

Yes, I know. I think I was confused a bit, though: Place seems to apply only to image files, not to any form of text.
