I was hoping that version 1.10 (surely this is v.2.0? 🤪), just released today, might just include footnotes and endnotes, but sadly not. So do we have to wait until after v.1.99 before footnotes get included, or perhaps v.1.999 ...?

Version 2.0 may come after 1.26 or 1.73 or 1.263... It depends when the foot/end notes will be ready.

Thank you for drawing my attention to this.  I hadn't opened Publisher today (!), as I received a sample print of the book from the printers and was checking every page carefully, mostly for print quality and colour as I hope that I trapped all typos at an earlier stage.

Perhaps the new version fixes bugs, one or two of which I have discovered!

the last post before this one was more than a month ago.  i suspect (potential) users are becoming disillusioned about the lack of clarity, otherwise there would more activity.

Base Unit:  Standard model M1 Mac Mini - until such time as I can afford a new or used Studio - albeit running its OS from an external NVMe (2TB).

Laptop: 2015 Macbook Pro Retina - i7, 16GB, 2TB SSD

Server: Mac Mini 2014 - i5, 16GB, 2TB SSD

Workshop: HP G4 running as a Hackintosh until more funds can be found to upgrade it.

Software:  Affinity Suite (ver. 2), Office 365, Fusion360, OnShape, Carbide Create, Cura, Inkscape

Or they are getting fed up with 34 pages basically repeating the same thing!

Everyone (more or less) wants footnotes and endnotes.

Serif have indicated that they are coming, but we don't know when.

Just posting endlessly, asking for the same thing is not really going to make much difference!

herein lies the problem.  there is a lack of communication on the matter, therefore we have neither closure (the arrival of the matter) or timeframe (as they will not or cannot say).

I am using x7. After completing a document I went back to some spots to insert endnotes on certain pages the endnotes start renumbering at 1 and are inserted in the middle of the document.

I’ve tried everything I can think of, kinking etc to get it to correct this. But it thinks some pages are a separate story.

Post your problem in another thread to get an answer, since this isn't relevant here. (And what is x7? You're using version 1.7?).

Here is just the Endnotes-footnotes lament wall.

No need to ask for news, just read the Beta release notes until it mentions footnotes/endnotes.

Yes, but also I doubt that the inclusion of Feetnote Footsnote Notes will be a quiet event. Lots of chatter will occur.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Al ver un nombre italiano (supongo), yo esperaba algo en italiano.  ¡Me gusta la palabra "serifianos"!  Yo por aquí no he oído nada. ¡Saludos al Perú!

For non-speakers of Spanish, Giovanni says, "It the 24th of October and we are still waiting for the "serifians" (?!) to tell us when they will give a reply to this joke of footnotes."

I replied: "Seeing an Italian name (I suppose), I was expecting something in Italian.  I like the word "serifians"!  Hereabouts I have heard nothing. Greetings to Peru!

(Si sólo existieran las notas a pie de página.)

If it were only for the footnotes!

In many ways, Serif excites us with the quality of its Affinity suite. In other respects, Serif’s stubbornness in treating its customers as incapable of knowing what they need first or foremost, and its persistence in systematically ignoring customer reports of incongruous translations (instead of using a real specialist translator, their translation is the worst kind of Google translate) and their aberrant localization is staggering, to say the least.

The latest example has been reported many times over the past months: They decided to put a space in front of the apostrophe because in their regional language, the apostrophe is used for quotes. As a result, it is now impossible to write directly in the Affinity suite since the apostrophe is used in French and other languages only for elision, and is very common.

Quote

L'arbre de l'abricot ou de l'oranger d'Espagne est l'or de l'hiver.

becomes

Quote

L ’arbre de l ’abricot ou de l ’oranger d ’Espagne est l ’or de l ’hiver.

instead of

Quote

L’arbre de l’abricot ou de l’oranger d’Espagne est l’or de l’hiver.

6 cœurs, 12 processus - Windows 11 pro - 4K - DirectX 12 - Suite universelle Affinity (Affinity  Publisher, Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo).

Mais je vous le demande, peut-on imaginer une police sans sérifs ?
