Well, I did reset all Publisher options and still no luck. I hope it's not only me that has this problem.

I just tried your recipe (from following the video) on the MacBook running OS 10.12.6 and got the same results as you. Interestingly I couldn't force quit Publisher and it wasn't running according to the Dock icons but the window was on screen. I also couldn't quit any of the other applications and had to force quit them.

This is a shot of what is running according to the Force Quit Window

Have a look at the memory usage for my machine.

I did find that the pinned rectangle was on the Master Page in the text frame but was made not visible and no amount of clicking in the visibility checkbox would make it visible. I also didn't get a crash report.

Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Hello Dave,

Here is a short video demonstrating the problem. You can't attach anything to the text frames coming from master pages whether it is a graphic element or another text box.

This is on the latest Publisher beta.

Thanks. I had actually been testing on an older version, 1.8.0.499, where it works. It does crash as you describe on 1.8.0.518. So it is a relatively new regression. I've logged it to be fixed.

Thanks Dave,

Could you also please have a look at the baseline grid enabled on master pages text frames.

This baseline grid is not reflected on ordinary pages.

Do you have a more detailed recipe?

Hello Dave,

Two issues with the text boxes on master pages and how they interact with pages (.523):

1. Baseline grid is not reflected on the pages. If you enable baseline grid on master pages the existing pages don't get that. If you create new pages then they pick up the baseline grid. But when you change the baseline grid settings then that's not reflected. The baseline grid doesn't propagate properly to the pages.

2. If you pin any graphic on text frames from master pages that works. But once unpinned they remain part of the Master pages group and cannot be selected any more. One has to detach it and delete it. So the graphics that was created on a page is not selectable any more and doesn't belong to that page. This clearly is a bug too. Once unpinned the graphic should be taken out of the Master pages group and be part of the page as before.

Statements like this from people on the inside are very encouraging to me. It is an example where the users can provide feedback and the developers give honest consideration of the needs of the users. @Dave Harris Thank you. Not every company operates that way.

How do i move my third line of text "class"to line up with the "degrees" in my 2nd line of text?

If this is just a one off then you can offset the left by the width of the C (some number of points or mm) and have the first line with an offset of 0 (zero).

The problem is that first letters in a paragraph

Carol

Ian

Mike

etc.

are going to be different widths so you cannot set up a single Paragraph style for any arbitrary first letter drop cap lining up exactly.

I hope this will better illustrate the problem, regular paragraphs have a 1 pica left indent, the drop cap paragraphs are set for the width of the C in Carol.

It kind of sounds like you want a drop cap line count of three with the letter itself the size of two lines. This can be achieved. Set up your drop cap to three lines, and define a character style for the drop cap letter itself. In that character style, scale the letter horizontally and vertically to about 67%, and use baseline shift to push it up toward the top. Here is a sample:

Is this what you are wanting to do?

Not sure if you just have 3 lines of text or just want 3 lines indented, but if you want ALL following text to align with the drop cap, you can use the "indent to here" special character (Command | (pipe) on the Mac) after the drop cap.
