I have no way to do this particular task With Acrobat. I use Acrobat to check resoultions, color spaces, spot colors, fonts, pdf standards and much more. (I use Publisher for real projects since it is out of beta.)

The best way I have right now to check overlapping text is by unchecking View/Preview Mode and check View/Show Text Flow.

This seems to work pretty well (Publisher 1.7.3)

Okay, thanks, that's a good workaround.

Also, I think there's no alternative to check the actual PDF to verify the export.

But for the overlapping text, there should still be a way to "jump" to problems like this, or wrong dimensions of an image, etc.

It doesn't look like I have commented on this yet (I can't keep up with even my own posts).

So let me say that a preflight panel of some sort would be a nice feature. I can envision it as the kind of thing that would be a version 2 addition.

Personally, I think this deserves its own persona, as has been brought up in one of the numerous other threads on this subject.

+ 1 for Preflight. Even if it is just to show cut off text (i.e. text that has been cut off).

For those who did not catch this, it was already mentioned in another thread somewhere that an upcoming beta for 1.8 will be adding a preflight panel of some sort.  No details yet on what might be included on the panel.

Wait no longer to see our first beta to include this feature.

Preflight

We have introduced a preflight check feature which can be used to ensure that your document exports or prints as intended. The preflight check runs as a background process, and can be run on on demand, prior to output, or 'live' on a continual basis. We currently have a number of separate tests with more planned for inclusion in the final 1.8 and in the future.

Preflight is configured via the 'Preflight' panel, which supports profiles to specify which tests should be run if you desire. An indicator is provided on the status bar for immediate feedback on the process. Note we have requested updated icons as we are aware that colour alone is not a good way to represent the different statuses.

Please feel free to suggest additional tests - it's likely that many will already be under consideration but please don't let that deter you.

The 1.8.0 builds are in links at the top of these beta forum posts
