Styles confusion

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Caveat - It may be just me.

Right Side Bar:

The paragraph styles appear in the 'Paragraph' tab styles drop down - all good there.

However, the paragraph styles also appear In the 'Text Styles' tab drop down.

I cannot edit the paragraph styles by double clicking the style in the 'Paragraph' tab, but only when I select the 'Paragraph Style' from the 'Text Style' tab drop down.

The 'Show in both panels' is not checked and the radio button 'Paragraph' is selected in the 'Edit Text Style' dialogue box - which should be 'Edit Paragraph Style', surely?

The text styles do not appear in the paragraph styles, the radio button 'Text' is selected - so that works ok.

So what seems to be happening is:

  • The 'Paragraph' radio button in the 'Edit Text Style' dialogue is directing the style to be saved in the 'Text Style' tab and the 'Paragraph' tab.
  • The style in the 'Paragraph' tab drop down is not recognising a double click to open the 'Edit Paragraph Style' dialogue.

Also, 'mouse-over' does not change the 'text style' in either the text tool bar or tab drop down as it does for the paragraph styles, this means you have to left-click the text style to see the effect.

Thanks, sorry if it sounds confusing.

Hi GRH

To be honest this all sounds to be working as expected. Paragraph styles, Character styles, they are all classed as text styles and are therefore are shown on the Text Styles panel which is where they are intentionally made to edit. When the styles appear on another panel it is to simple quickly apply a style that is in the Text Styles list.
