jamiesameefje
Hi everyone, I am considering buying affinity designer, but I need to know if I can draw lines with specific measurements. I want to be able to type in a value, like 50 mm, and have the line change into that specific measurement. I've used Illustrator before and it was very easy to do there. In this program I figured out there is a Transform tab, which can be used to change the measurements, but it doesn't seem to work well. Most of the time the H is greyed out and when it's not and use them unlinked, they seem to stay linked. I can't really find good information on this. Am I using it wrong or is this program not designed to use for specific measurements? Thanks!
dutchshader
It is greyed out when you draw a straight line, a straight line has no hight. jamiesameefje
Ok, I get it now. I do run into a problem though. When I draw a second line, and a third line, it treats all these lines as one object, and I can't change the measurements one line at a time. Is this possible in this program? How do I unlock aspect ratio? Thanks!
dutchshader
Looks like you are in pixel persona Quote intel core i5, 16GB 128Gb ssd win10 Pro Huion new 1060plus. philips 272p 2560x1440px on intel HD2500 onboard graphics Razer Tartarus Chroma

Can you attach a screenshot of your Layer Studio? Thanks, Gabe.
jamiesameefje
I am not sure what the Layer Studio is, so I made a screenshot of the whole window. I've drawn three lines, but it became one object instead of three separate lines.
Staff Gabe Posted August 28, 2018 Staff Share Posted August 28, 2018 Thanks. It looks like you were using the pen tool but did not finish the curve. To finish the curve, double-click on the end(last) node. You can then start a new curve
jamiesameefje
Thanks so much! It's working now!
gdenby
Hi, jamiesameefje, The pen tool has 4 modes, only 1 of which makes a single from 2 clicks. The other modes, as you've just learned, continue drawing until the shape is closed. Or- you press escape. The next click will draw a new pen stroke. This is hand if you are "sketching," making lines w. no fills, only strokes.
