I am  not able to use this program anymore.. it wont  shut down, I have to  shut  down the PC  to make it go away.. it  throws up a message about  an image loading when there is no image. I have removed it twice and re installed and  no good..  any idea..

It's likely due to a file in the 'Temp' folder, which will look something like this:
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\1.0\temp\5b79b1df

With Affinity Photo still closed:

1) Open Windows File Explorer, copy & paste the following into the address bar and press Enter:

%AppData%\Affinity\Photo\1.0\temp\

2) Then delete the files in that 'Temp' folder

What might be causing an issue is that Photo can be set to open previously opened documents  If it crashed and the document got corrupted that may be causing the issue.

Shut Photo (however you can) press down  control (and hold it down) while you launch Photo

When this appears

The Don't Restore Windows and Documents will stop it loading any problem files. Press Clear

That should fix it.

To stop it happening again, go to Preferences and see if Reopen document on startup is ticked.

If it is, untick it.
