pummelfee
Hi! I got a shutterstock vector and it is a quiet complex ornament that needs to be edited. It has no lines, only a form that looks like a line (see the atteched image - left is the form and right you see the outline of this form). What i need would be the black form as a real stroke that i can make thicker or thinner how i want to. Does someone know a way to make this? Or do i have to re-draw the whole graphic by hand? Staff Gabe Posted August 24, 2018 Staff Share Posted August 24, 2018 Hi @pummelfee, If that's got "expand stroke" already on, there's not much you can do. You can expand a stoke, but you cannot turn a shape into strokes. If you attach the file (or a part of it) we can confirm this for you. Thanks, Gabe. pummelfee
..OK Maybe there is a workaround or a dirty hack. In Illustrator i would make a tiff or bmp and then use the black/white vectorisation tool. But unfortunaly i have no Adobe stuff anymore... Maybe you know a vectorisation tool or service that can do it? Ohne Titel.afdesign
GarryP
Someone else posted this link a day or two ago: https://www.vectorizer.io/ I've not used it myself but it looks like it could do a good job.

catlover
Here's a link to a Vetorizing app (Intaglio Vectorize) to download. It's free and it works very well, I've used it often. http://www.purgatorydesign.com/Vectorize/ It has even settings you can adjust. When vectorized it creates an extra rectangle (white), which you'll have to delete before you can edit the actual vector pic.
gdenby
I recall that Corel had a feature in its vectorizer that did centerline, but the few vectorizers I've worked w. in the last few years just do outlines. That would just repeat the situation, no center strokes that can have different widths.
