jackamus
Is it possible to copy an object from a group that is not seen as a daughter of that group? What I mean is can the copied object have its own layer? Quote If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools. Staff Gabe Posted August 22, 2018 Staff Share Posted August 22, 2018 Hi @jackamus, When you copy a layer, it does not keep its hierarchy. It will paste it as a new layer on its own, regardless of the hierarchy it was taking part of when you copied it. Thanks, Gabe.
jackamus
Yes I know but when I select the copy of the object it shows it as still being part of its original group i.e. it is included in its original group's envelope. I want it to separated from its original group. Quote If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools. Staff Gabe Posted August 22, 2018 Staff Share Posted August 22, 2018 That's because you pasted it inside the group. You would have to either select a layer that's higher up in the hierarchy or click off the canvas to deselect everything and paste. this will place it on the top of your layer stack. jackamus
Thanks. I have this habit of selecting and dragging objects from groups for them to stand alone but always had this problem. By copying and pasting outside the group then I have an independent object. Quote If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed!
