Layer subtract on iPad?

Recommended Posts

In AD on iPad the Geometry commands are on the Edit menu, accessed by tapping the ellipsis (‘...’) icon at the top left.

Yes, I tried that - but nothing is happening... the background is not punching through.

I have 2 layers with shadows around them... and I am trying to punch a hole in the middle of the letter A to expose the shadows.

Any other ideas?

The letter ‘A’ should already have a hole in the middle, both before and after converting to curves. It would be easier to troubleshoot this if you could attach a sample *.afdesign file which demonstrates the problem.

Apologies for not replying sooner! I’m afraid I’m really not sure what I’m supposed to see or not see in that file. :(

No problem...

See the letter A? I want to have the hole in the letter A cut through to the background.

I see an A in ‘La’, and in ‘Vida’ and ‘Loca’, but that’s just an image. The only text A characters I can see on the canvas are the ones in ‘Markus’ and ‘Allen’, and in both cases the background is clearly visible through the counters.

What you really need to do is remove the Layer Effects, make the hole in the 'a' in Mark by selecting both layers (Mark and a) and going Layer > Geometry > Subtract.then reapplying the Layer Effect.

Do it for the other layer too.

Anything else would be a waste of time.

Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.

I suspected this. Thank you for the confirmation.
