Lassiong not working on photos, why ?

Hi,

I cannot understand why the selection tools especially the free hand option is not working for me

When I try to do it, it changes shape to something completely different

I have to finish the lassoing to the very dot I started with for anything to happen

Ive changed the selection too - normal, polygonal and magnetic

Ive changed the mode - New, add, subtract, intersect

I am a noob to affinity but I hope someone can help me

Have you set the Mode to Add or New?

I have tried the add , new and others features and its the same, out of shape.

Hi @Harry50,

Welcome to the forums. 

Have a look at the layer studio. What type is your layer? Pixel or Image? If it's image, right click on it and choose "Rasterise"

I wondered that, too, Gabe. But a test using Free-Hand Selection (aka Lasso) on an image layer worked just fine for me without rasterizing it.

Did you checked the feather amount? If you end up with a round selection instead of a square, it can be because of the feather option. Try setting it at 0.

Lowering the feather amount to 0 worked, thanks guys.
