vitaprimo
Is there a way to convert embedded documents to curves in place? I made a huge custom grid of slightly shifted, broken objects but I wasn't aware of embedded documents when I started. I just opened another Designer document copied, pasted, shifted and repeated hundreds of times then when it was time to make it all one huge set of curves to apply effects, colors, alpha and other things I realized I can group them but that's it. On the layers panel there's one for each embedded document as usual but no obvious options to extract the documents. All the boolean operations are greyed out, consolidation is greyed out too. Do I have to start over? Or there's hope?
Staff Gabe Posted August 17, 2018 Staff Share Posted August 17, 2018 Hi @vitaprimo, Welcome to the forums. I'm afraid we cannot extract the embedded document. You can only edit in in a new tab, replace it or rasterise it. There is no option to "extract" the contents into the current document. Thanks, Gabe. vitaprimo
Jason Mark
I found a pretty easy way to extract an embedded document. Simply double-click on it and it will open in a new tab. Command - A to select all, copy, close tab and paste into your original document.I found a pretty easy way to extract an embedded document. Simply double-click on it and it will open in a new tab. JerryLin
Could Affinity Designer add this function ASAP? It's really inconvenient. D.VE
mrqasq
I just found myself in the same spot. Happily I have CorelDRAW on hand, so I did this old way. It's sad how often I have to get back to Corel for such simple tasks..
