garywi
Hi, please can you tell me what the difference is between Cmd J and using Cmd C, Cmd V? many thanks
R C-R
For one thing, CMD+C copies whatever is selected to the clipboard, replacing whatever was there before. That means it could then be pasted into another document, or used with "New From Clipboard" to create a new document with that selection. CMD+J just duplicates in place whatever is selected, without affecting the contents of the clipboard. Alfred
Cmd+C copies to the clipboard and Cmd+V pastes the contents of the clipboard. Cmd+J duplicates the selected object(s) without overwriting the current contents of the clipboard. @R C-R: Snap! gdenby
Lets say you've copied some text in another app. You want to paste it into a text frame, and you already have an irregular vector shape filled w. a bit map. If you use Duplicate, the shape will be repeated. One can then change it to a text frame, and paste the stored text inside it. I suppose there are other scenarios where holding something other than an Affinity object in the system clipboard is a good thing.
