ChrisP
Just took my son to Disneyland and he loves Olaf (ok, I do too). I found the ability to change the line width by using the pressure profile by one of the other posts...very fun. Not finished, still need to add shadows. raqs and Leigh
Staff MattP Posted August 12, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 12, 2014 "Do you wanna draw a snowman?..." ;) Looks great! Olaf is awesome - we watch him pretty much every single day at the moment as my son is addicted to Frozen!

ChrisP
I'm having some issues getting pixelated output. Perhaps it is my lack of understanding of illustration software. Some parts are clean and some are pixelated. The screenshot is in adobe acrobat reader not preview. I have also attached the AD file. Can someone tell me if I am doing something wrong? I'm thinking I am missing some output setting. Thanks Olaf_v2b.afdesign
GRScott
ChrisP, I don't know. I don't see the same thing on my iMac. (I do see it in your thumbnails) Quote Gregg OS X Version 10.14.6 iMac 27" 3.2 GHz i5- 32 GB Huion Kamvas Pro 20 iPad Pro 12.9" IOS 13 AD = OS IOS, AP = OS IOS
Staff MEB Posted August 13, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 13, 2014 There's nothing unusual in your file. Maybe it's just because the PDF exporter isn't fully completed yet? Staff MattP Posted August 13, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 13, 2014 The function that I'm still in the middle of writing is the one that converts varying width vector lines into filled polygons - and it's this one that you need in order to be able to export your varying width strokes as vectors... so because it doesn't exist in the beta version yet, those lines are getting rendered to bitmaps as PDF doesn't have the notion of a varying width line. This should update in time to work correctly :)
ChrisP
Thanks for info MEB and Matt. I look forward to the update and can't imagine how difficult it is to write this kind of code. My hat is off to you Matt!

rui_mac
Programming is so cool. I started programming when I was 14 years old (BASIC programming) and advanced to assembler, C, javascript, python and C++. That is weird, for a graphic designer, I know.My personal opinion is that every child should learn programming in school (first grade). Even if they don't get to be programmers in the future or follow anything related to computers. Why? Because programming teaches you how to address problems. How to systematize the problem-solving approach. How to divide a task in several smaller sub-tasks and rationalize the processes. It also teaches you how to think logically. Besides, it is a great help with day-to-day professional work. Well, in my case, it is. I create my own scripts and plugins for Cinema 4D, the 3D application I use everyday. That is also why I would love to see some sort of scripting abilities in AD. Being able to create custom tools/objects/commands that simplify tasks or produce things that would otherwise be impossible to do with the native tools. So... please, pretty please, add scripting abilities to AD ;)
