nickpan
I'm fascinated, but not even sure what it's called. It's a cartoon of some description, a bit like clip-art maybe? I want to do some, see if I can caricature things.

Staff MEB Posted August 9, 2018 Staff Share Posted August 9, 2018 Hi nickpan, Welcome to Affinity Forums Not sure this style is associated with any particular designation. I see what you mean when you refer to it as clip-arty(?) and SouthPark-esque but I'm afraid it's not recognisable enough (traits) to warrant a specific style name. nickpan
maybe done with tablet and stylus, rather than the tools in Affinity
Staff MEB Posted August 9, 2018 Staff Share Posted August 9, 2018 I don't think the use of tablet and stylus are relevant for this type of illustration (it's clearly a vector based illustration). You can replicate it in Affinity (technically speaking) with a mouse and the Pen and Shapes tools without any issues. nickpan 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference
Staff MEB Posted August 9, 2018 Staff Share Posted August 9, 2018 Take a look at this tutorial. Although the style is different and uses some gradients rather than flat colours as the illustration you posted the processes to built/develop the illustration are similar. nickpan 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference
gdenby
Hi, Nickpan, Seems to me its a cartoon that has some things in common with the "flat" interface sty;e being used a lot these days. Limited palette, mostly fairly low contrast. What the AP vectorscope reports about the color range. Mostly simple shapes, little use for the depth that shading adds. Both Affinity Photo and Designer could easily do it, either on desktop or tablet. In so far as the shape edges are so simple, it might be that using something as expressive as a stylus can be would not be as appropriate as a mouse. nickpan 1 Quote iMac 27" Retina, c. 2015: OS X 10.11.5: 3.3 GHz I c-5: 32 Gb, AMD Radeon R9 M290 2048 Mb iPad 12.9" Retina, iOS 10, 512 Gb, Apple pencil Huion WH1409 tablet
