Smudge-like tool for curves

Recommended Posts

Beta-spline like in cinema 4d can be an option.

Most of tools in c4d about splines are very good. Don't like the way to cut a spline however.

If they can get inspiration with c4d :

- easy to know the start point of the spline and his direction

- several interpolation (linear, bezier, akima, cubic, beta-spline). You can mix linear and bezier. You can change interpolation at any time.

- close, unclose a spline by a simple click

- change the start point idem

- chamfer one or several points (linear or circular)

- align points

- offset spline

- get rounded some points (a way to simplify a curve sometimes)

I don't like the way splines are split in Cinema4D also. Besides that, it has lots of great tools.

In AD is already easy to know the starting point and direction of a spline. Well, at least for opened splines. The last point is always tinted red.
As for closed splines that information is not very important right now, in AD. But when we get a Blend command (hint! hint!) that may become important.

As for all the other tools, yes. They are great in Cinema4D and could be very helpful in AD.

I have not really explored Affinity and never done complex shapes. Sense of splines is useful for transparent objects (cmd 8 in AI) and shape gradients.

You can also make transparent object with pathfinder ( A-B ) but I prefer one command because it's faster.
