VectorCat
I can convert type to curves and see the nodes/points, but I am unable to grab and manipulate them..certainty I am missing something very obvious. thanks for any clues!
toltec
You should just be able to drag the nodes, as shown. This is Designer but it’s the same thing in Photo, the Node Tool is just in a different place. s Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions. VectorCat
toltec, that’s exactly what I’m trying to do, but only with the pen tool selected can I even see the nodes. When I select the node tool - or any tool other than pen, the nodes disappear. I’ve been using vector tools for a *long* time, so the principles aren’t exotic to me. after converting the type to outlines, is there another step before choosing the node tool? thank you! Glenn
VectorCat... I'm still learning Designer, and came upon the same problem as you; but then found that, after convert to curves, it was necessary to go Edit>Ungroup. I find the nodes then do appear, and are editable. Hope it works for you EDIT: I see that Ungroup is only necessary when there's more than one text character. So, apparently, multiple characters convert into a group of curves. Which makes sense, I suppose?

R C-R
4 hours ago, Paul Mudditt said: The node tool is with the pen tool in AP. FWIW, in both Designer & Photo, in the last section of the Pen Tool context menu, there is also a press & hold button to temporarily switch the Pen Tool to the Node Tool on-the-fly, which avoids the somewhat cumbersome process of going to the Tools & switching between Pen & Node tools. Staff MEB Posted July 31, 2018 Staff Share Posted July 31, 2018 Hi VectorCat, You can't edit the nodes of a group, only of single (or multiple-selected) object(s). So after converting the text to curves go to the Layers Studio, expand the group layer and select the letter(s) you want to edit. VectorCat
Ok..apologies for appearing (or actually being) so dense.. turns out that, while I could see nodes with the letter object and pen tool selected, I hadn’t actually converted the letter to curves, tho I know I clicked that icon. I selected convert to curves from the Edit menu, and Shazam, the nodes got much bigger, and I am now able to grab, move, alter. edit: I had actually clicked the expand stroke (squarish icon) and not the convert to curves menu item, whose icon looks like a french curve. So, good to know, good to have gone through the process, but now I’m very curious what the benefit is to see un-editable nodes in the letterforms. Anyone know the answer to that? A hearty thank you to all who helped me!
Staff MEB Posted July 31, 2018 Staff Share Posted July 31, 2018 Hi VectorCat, The idea beyond these small nodes is to indicate that the objects are not editable without converting them to curves first, however seems there's some inconsistencies (and apparently a few changes i must check out) here between desktop and iPad versions.
