RachelMCD
I'm an amateur in designing. I use it mostly for creating one sheets and artwork for my novels. While creating my recent project, my text isn't appearing. I click on the text tool and then double click where I want the text to appear. I get the blinking cursor but when I begin to type nothing appears. ( I have a visible color—I'm using black on a gray image.) I thought maybe my image was in front of the text and so I arranged my text to the front, and the words still didn't appear. A layer tag appears in the right side bar revealing what I've typed, but nothing appears on my project. This has never happened to me before. Anyone know what to do? Staff MEB Posted July 30, 2018 Staff Share Posted July 30, 2018 Hi RachelMCD, Welcome to Affinity Forums Without seeing at least a screenshot of the application's interface with the text selected and Layers and Colours panel visible is difficult to guess what may be happening. If you could attach the .afdesign file it would be even easier to help you. Does you have applied any transparency to the text? With the text selected, click the Transparency Tool (the cup of glass icon) and check if the Type dropdown in the context toolbar is set to None. Does the colour you selected for the text has the opacity set to 100% (on the bottom of the Colour panel)? Staff Lee D Posted July 30, 2018 Staff Share Posted July 30, 2018 Hi RachelMCD, Check to see if the Text layer opacity has been changed and that the blend mode is set to Normal. RachelMCD
RachelMCD
The transparency wasn't set to none! I would've never figured this out on my own. Thank you!!
JMV
I also have a problem with regard to text boxes in affinity designer. I am working on an artboard and every time I want to insert a textbox on a particular page, the textbox appears somewhere random in the grey area far away from any of the pages. I have no idea why that's happening and how to make it work the way it should...

MiloW
Suddenly, I can't write : ) I mean I am writing, not seeing anything. Everything is OK, color changed, opacity 100% etc... WTF? EDIT: Strange, had to restart AD...
Staff MEB Posted January 22 Staff Share Posted January 22 Hi @MiloW, Does the restart fixed the issue? If not, can you post a full app screenshot with the text tool selected and the Layers panel visible please? Thanks.
