Apple does offer a 14 day refund window if the user isn't satisfied with their purchase (except for gifts) in European countries. Go to this page and request a refund. Things aren't so clear in U.S. and Canada but they may still refund you in certain circumstances (these cases are handled on a case-by-case basis through Apple's official support channels). If you live there contact Apple Support directly and explain the situation. Since the Mac App Store is managed by Apple itself, there isn't much we can do in this situation.
