Travis Miller
I'm new to Affinity Designer and trying to create custom image brushes. The process seems very straightforward, but I can't seem to get it to work properly for my brushes. In my screen shot, I've illustrated the pattern I'm trying to make into an image brush. From what I've read and seen in video tutorials, the process is to make a black background with the area to be the actual brush white. I saved my image as a .PNG file. Done. Now, when I create the image brush everything appears to have imported properly. I sliced up the image to make the center repeat. That appears fine, as well. The problem I'm running into and can't resolve is how the brush always draws a black background and the white area will not change to a color no matter which color I select. I'm at a total loss as to what to do to correct this problem. I've tried removing the black background and making the brush white with a transparent background. That produces a brush that only paints in white. I'm sure there is something simple I'm missing, but I can't pinpoint exactly what it is. carl123
In your png file change the white bits to any colour, make the black bits transparent PS There may be other better ways, as I don't create a lot of brushes but the above should work Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.
Travis Miller
Thanks for the tip, but it didn't work for me. The black background is gone, but applying color doesn't take like it should. When I select the black or white swatch, it makes the brush stroke gray only. Every other color is fine. Weird.
JimmyJack
I think you may want an intensity brush instead. Use your original image, just make sure it's square in order to get it to repeat (a bug for the moment ) ...... Cool brush btw!! Travis Miller
Thanks JimmyJack! Switching over to an intensity brush did the trick.
