(AD) Artboard snapping issue

Recommended Posts

Sometimes I can't snap objects to the Artboard edges with "Snap to shape keypoints". It doesn't show up in the candidate list either.

I will need to select the Artboard once, then it works as expected.

Currently, this always happens when I open a file, or create a new file with Artboard ready.

Hi QQQhn,
If you are working with the Candidate list the maximum number of objects Affinity will snap to is defined by the Maximum dropdown value in the Snapping Manager... (by default six objects). So if you previously selected or created six objects - thus filling the candidate list - you will have to mouse-over (or select) the seventh object to add it to the candidate list (removing the first selected/created object from the list in the process). Same for the artboards with one exception: since they can't be added to the list just be mouse-hovering them as with other objects (because artboards are a special type of object that act as a canvas) you have to actually select it to add it to the candidate list. You can do it from the Layers panel, clicking on its layer's name or clicking the artboard's name in the top left of the artboard itself. You can then click the original object you wanted to align and snap it to the artboard as usual. This is by design.

NOTE: You can enable Snap to spread in the Snapping Manager to achieve the same result (align to canvas/artboard) no matter the other snapping settings/candidate list.
