MarcoFace
Hi, I feel a bit stupid posting this as I've been using Affinity Photo for a very long time, photoshop before that... and yet I have hit a stumbling block on a very simple issue regarding selection. Rather than type it I made a very quick video. Thank you in advance for any help. Marco
Staff Dan C Posted July 20, 2018 Staff Share Posted July 20, 2018 Hi MarcoFace, Welcome to the forums You're doing nothing wrong, other than the layer type of the basketball. I can see it is an Image layer and not a Pixel layer. When copying or cutting from an Image layer, it will always cut or copy the whole layer. Before making your selection, right click on your layer and select Rasterise, this will allow you to select and copy only the ball from the image! As a side note, it may be quicker for you to use Filters>Colours>Erase White Paper on the layer. Not only will Affinity automatically detect the white edges of the image and remove them, it will rasterise the layer in the process, hopefully making it a couple click operation
