Trouble with Perspective Projection

Recommended Posts

  • Staff

Hi Tyger_purr,

Welcome to the forums :)

Perspective Projection is used for irregular shaped images, I believe the effect you're trying to achieve should be done with with a filter.

Open Filters Studio and change the type to Distortions, then scroll down until you see Perspective. Select this and now you can drag the corners of the mesh until the paper fits squarely on your document. I hope this helps!

Please Note: I am now out of the office until Tuesday 2nd April on annual leave.

If you require urgent assistance, please create a new thread and a member of our team will be sure to assist asap.

Many thanks :)

Yes, this is exactly what I was trying to achieve. Thank you.

I was confused as the tutorial I found was this...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAtHcKEyh-w

Which seemed to do the same thing but did not give the expected results. Neither the results I was trying to achieve, nor the results I would have expected based on the tutorial.

FWIW, that video tutorial demonstrates how to use the iPad equivalent of the desktop app's Live Perspective Projection feature demonstrated in this video tutorial. It is useful to temporarily work on part of an image as if you were viewing it projected onto a different surface, like the paper in the iPad tutorial or the TV screen in the desktop tutorial.

Hmm I’m facing the same distortion problem as OP while it’s working as expected in all the videos like this https://youtu.be/eAZdsNeNa1A, it’s “cropped” but not distorted

and actually to me it would make more sense without cropping it to fit the canvas but rather show the whole plane in the projection

 that’s what I get

not exactly what I expected 🤔
