hey so I just got the free trial for affinity designer.  Super excited about the software and all it had to offer.  The promise of being able to work on my big Cintiq then transfer to my iPad was also amazing.  I have been banging my head on the table all day trying to figure out a way to turn off line smoothing.  I've been looking online for hours and wasn't able to find anything until now.  Very disappointed the line smoothing cannot be taken off.  This is definitely a deal breaker.  But I do want to say thank you for finding this forum, now I can stop trying to figure this out and just delete the program.

I've figured out how to prevent the smoothing!

In the top left there are three icons: the left being the affinity design logo that's labelled "design persona", then "pixel persona", and to the very right there is the "export persona".

If you select "pixel persona" and draw things there, there will be no line smoothing of the sort.

Yes, but required is "vector" drawing, no "pixel".

Hi - Once again late to the party, but I don't think I can use Affinity Designer for artwork for my games because when I go to do a vector line, of basically any shape, just drawing a leaf, the end result is actually worse than my free-hand drawing, like the stem goes all wonky, Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Hi Dorian,

Welcome to the forums.

There is no option to disable it at the moment.

I've moved it to our feature requests section.

Thanks,

Gabe.

Hi, any updates on this? It's been on feature request for over three years...

I'd love to be able to draw organic shapes using vector brush tool, without the tool perfecting the lines for me...

Ah come on now, I mean it's been only 3 years. That's a blip compared to how long the universe has existed. 😄 I'm not sure what number this feature drew when it got in line with all those others waiting to be implemented. I know some have been waiting since 6 or 7 years. 😧 I think they're going to start drawing retirement funds and social security.

Sadly nothing yet. 😟

From the sideline, I have no, absolutely no knowledge of, and not affiliated with Serif ok... Just my opinion.

I think from watching the feature requests for the last four years, Serif is holding a lot of these for the 2.0 release. From a marketing strategy, can you image how people will react? Talking about a major sales bump.

FWIW, I started compiling a spreadsheet of all the feature requests, starting with AP. Rough estimate so far from 2018, more than 2,000. One part of this is the referenced app, if any. Just to really see/show the because it's the way PS does it.

I'm also adding my voice to the chorus here begging for this kind of control on the brush tool. A little baffling that it doesn't exist when it's a standard feature on other apps with less-comprehensive features, especially after it's been a known issue for so long. Please add it, as it unnecessarily hinders an otherwise extremely powerful app...

*Side note — a 2 minute timeout on your captcha isn't overkill...it's slaughterhouse. That's my 2¢.

This is keeping me from buying the app at all. If I can't control how much my lines are "corrected" it makes the app useless to me because I constantly have to redraw my lines to try and get the app to accept the texture I want.

Please add a feature to adjust this.
