Designer iPad Typography Tutorial (split)

Recommended Posts

I have a question if I may? On the IPad version of Designer, the Advanced Typography (Text Studio) options under the ‘OpenType’ menu don’t look or perform anything like your tutorial.  In fact, the only options I have available are ‘Figure Positions’ and ‘Capitals’ which aren’t that exciting.  Am I doing something wrong? Many thanks.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @DJW77. :)

Some fonts have lots of OpenType features, but many have only a few and many more have none at all. Which particular feature(s) were you hoping to use?

As Alfred indicated, this panel is dynamic, and the available options depend on the OpenType features implemented in the font you are using. Different fonts, different features available. Recently, I found an online resource to test OpenType features present in a font:

https://fontdrop.info

It says files are not uploaded to any server for executing the feature check, but I would use it only at your own risk (font copyright!). It is presumably safe to use the service with open source fonts. :)

Thanks for the link, Alex. Needless to say, if you have the font available in Affinity Designer you can test the OpenType features yourself!
