IanMitchell
Hi, I’m loving AD to create my vector drawings. BUT am having trouble when I export a .eps The eps is not readable when I place it in a Quark file prior to saving as a pdf. However same eps can be opened in illustrator and resaved so it then can be placed. But I wanted to move away from Illustrator. I’m wondering if I am exporting the eps correctly, but have tried lots of variations and am at a loss. Thanks ian
MikeW
Hi Ian, So far I haven't had issues using the EPS (for export) option in AD and importing to QXP. Because there is no TIFF preview, Q does need a moment or two (or three) to build its own preview, but then it imports. While some of my EPS exports have been somewhat involved, most are rather simple drawings. But they have come into Q. What version of QXP are you using? Would it be possible to share one such EPS, here as an attachment or privately? Take care, Mike
IanMitchell
Thanks for responding Mike, Attached AD file and the resulting eps. It is an older Quark 8.1 Thanks gairloch.toward Ben Aig.eps gairloch.toward Ben Aig.afdesign
MikeW
Thanks. I can only go back to version 9. Never got 8 to reinstall on Windows 10. But I don't think there were changes as regards eps handling until v.10 or v.2015. I'll be back after a bit. Mike
MikeW
Hmm. I tried the EPS version (pretty neat drawing!) and it came right into version 9. And exported to PDF without issue as well. Do you get a preview in the Import dialog when you select this or other AD-generated PDFs? Have you tried using AD's PDF export and seeing if that can be imported? IanMitchell
Thanks Mike, In Quark I just get a grey postcript error box. AD's - PDF export is fine, but it's not really how I do things. (I need Quark for the various sizes/crops etc) I'll look into the prospect of whether my old Quark is the issue. Thanks.
MikeW
Mac or Windows out of curiosity? It is possible that there was a change in eps handling i am unaware of. I'll ask one of the developers. If it did then there's not much that can be done other than upgrading. You could try a trial version of 2018. Mike
IanMitchell
Hi Mike, iIt's a Mac - El Capitan. I'll look at upgrading thanks for the advice. Ian
MikeW
Thanks. I'll ask them to try and load the eps on v.8 on a Mac using El Capitan. BTW, is your Q fully updated? The last patch would be 8.5.1: http://www.quark.com/Support/Downloads/Details.aspx?fid=200 Just in case your version isn't 8.5.1 If you do decide to upgrade, let me know. There is still a current deal, I think. But if it has expired I *may* be able to help. Mike
MikeW
Oh. I just looked at this posting on the Q forum. 8 isn't supported on El Capitan and so that may be an issue. https://forums.quark.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=27713
