Aron Elal
What does "convert to text frame" I tried dividing a rectangle with an ellipse to aachieve a "float-like text flow for a design I'm doing (circle-shaped logo and text around it with curving allignment) but when I convert the shape and convert it to text frame, it just writes in a box shape under the border I just made. A bit confusing, or maybe I'm missing something?
firstdefence
Do you mean like this? text around a circle.afdesign I've saved the History with this file so you can scroll back and forth in the History Panel to see how I created this. The problem with Affinity is this is very static so you can't resize the text frame or move it about and expect it to morph around the circle, you have to create the text frame exactly as you want it. A bit confusing, or maybe I'm missing something? 'Convert to text frame' turns any vector shape into a text box. If you convert the shape into curves before converting it to a text frame,, you can edit it using the node tool into any shape you want like the one @firstdefence shows. Edit. You can use the Node Tool to adjust the frame afterwards and the text will re flow. As R C-R points out. With the following, I cut an ellipse from a rectangle with a Boolean subtraction. You could also cut a donut type hole in the middle to make text flow around it. Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions. You just have to select the text frame with the Node tool to edit its shape. The text will reflow as needed. What I meant is once you have a shape and a text box you cannot move the text box and the text automatically follow around the shape, so you cannot move the text box up or down, left or right without breaking the effect. The illusion of text flowing around an object that appears to be interfacing with the text box is now broken. You can move whatever nodes you like but the effect is an illusion not an actual dynamic interfacing of two objects. Affinity Designer Can't do Text Wrapping Indesign can text wrap; obviously and hopefully one day soon Affinity Publisher when released should have this feature and who knows Designer might inherit this cool feature from it's app sibling. Aron Elal
What he said.. Firstdefence nailed it. It would be awesome to be able to do what that animation is doing. Thanks for all the replies, though. Awesome community and here's to AD <3 Thanks, Aron
