Staff Ash Posted August 9, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 9, 2014 With a brush tool selected (maybe pencil too) would be cool to have a modifier which meant you could adjust thickness with the mouse wheel. Realise you can hover over the width field in the context bar and do it (loving the fact all fields can be adjusted with hover-roller btw!) but would be nice to do it on doc and see nozzle preview shrink/expand at same time. Staff MEB Posted August 9, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 9, 2014 Having it changing size live on doc is helpful because it gives us a direct reference to base the brush size on. Nice request :) Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
retrograde
I think the best way this has been done is in PS. With brush tool selected, option+control+drag left to right to resize or up and down to adjust hardness with onscreen feedback. Perfect! Staff Ash Posted August 10, 2014 Author Staff Share Posted August 10, 2014 Actually think that is a better solution - works well with trackpads, etc. too. Staff Andy Somerfield Posted August 10, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 10, 2014 Yeah that's a good idea - we'll look into it.. For now, you can use the [ and ] keys to change brush size, if you like.. AndyS
retrograde
Cheers Andy and Ash, looking forward to that implementation, it's very quick and requires little or no thought ;-) Quote http://www.kevincreative.com https://www.behance.net/kevincreative https://dribbble.com/kevincreative https://www.instagram.com/kevincreative/
Edo75
Yes the Photoshop way is the perfect way to change the radius and the hardness of a brush.
rui_mac
Well, the [ and ] keys solution don't work in all keyboards. In the portuguese keyboard, for example, they are only available by pressing Alt+8 and Alt+9 and they pressing that combination in AD simply produces a beep and no change in the brush size. Staff MEB Posted August 24, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 24, 2014 Yes, the actual combination doesn't work with portuguese keyboards as rui_mac pointed out. I'm not sure the mouse-wheel is precise enough for this. The Photoshop shortcut is widely used and can be executed in portuguese keyboards. It's probably the best way to go. rui_mac
Besides, the mouse-wheel is not a good solution for the users that use a graphic pen.
