Layers in Layers panel in AD

Recommended Posts

It seems that the Layers panel can contain either created objects or Layer containers which themselves contain created objects. There is no visual difference between them apart from the name "Layers". I wonder if a top level layer could be coloured differently or have some other way of visually quickly identifying it as a top level layer? It's a small point but it would be useful.

Hi  MickRose,
Layers have a small thin blue line below them (by default), while regular objects don't have it. You can customise this colour by right-clicking the Layer in the Layers panel and selecting Properties. All objects contained within it will also display its bounding box and handles in that colour (see second image below). Note these type of layers (for organisational purposes) are only available in Affinity Designer.

Thanks for that info - I didn't know that. Maybe the gradient could be a bit thicker. Most of the stuff I do doesn't involve top level layers - its just various created objects all on a single layer.
