export "cut layer" to pdf file

Recommended Posts

Hello, I would like to create a pdf which shall be printed as a sticker. The sticker has an irregular shape. According to the printing office, the pdf requires a separate layer for the cutting/embossing, but I do not know how to export this layer into pdf. Many thanks in advance for your hints.

I use Versaworks software with a Roland cutter. I create a global spot colour, call it CutContour, and apply it to the cut required. Then export to PDF, make sure Honour spot colours is ticked. Hope this helps.

The embossing must be done separately from any printing presumably. So couldn't you just hide all layers apart from the embossing one and then export? I've been using pdf files commercially for printing for a long time but I've never used or understood pdf layers.

I only have Affinity Designer available, and I need to add a separate layer for embassing. Does Affinity Designer not support such functions like export of separate layers?

Yes, it does. Layer->New Layer will create a new layer for you. You can then fill it with whatever you need, and it should show up in the exported PDF file as a layer.
