jstnhllmn
Hi. I have a simple 10x10 area I want to fill with a 1x1 pattern without stretching or distorting the pattern. I have drawn the initial pattern in AD. I can rasterize it, but the fill tool insists on stretching it to make it fit instead of repeating the raster. I'd prefer to keep the pattern 'live', like a symbol, so I can still edit it after setting up the file. Should I aim to work with the source pattern as an asset? a source? a bitmap fill (which seems like the worst option)? Thanks folks. Dying here. Andrea.Leigh
I'm interested in this too! Best of luck, jstnhllmn! Let us know if you find a solution or even a workaround!
firstdefence
Keep it clean and ⌘+J the hell out of that 1x1 pattern. Power Duplicate (PD) horizontally and then group or select the line of shapes and PD vertically. If you use the Fill tool set to bitmap and bring a square object in to a square rectangle the edges will snap, see guides, Set Wrap off and Maintain aspect ratio off. snapping Set Maintain aspect and Wrap back on. There might be better ways? Andrea.Leigh 1 Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.

If you've created or resized the square by hand (without any mm snapping etc) AND your prefs allow for just 1 decimal place for mm's.... Then anything .95 > X < 1.05 will register as 1.
