Smooth tool or Simplify path in affinity ?

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone/admins/staffs.

i was wondering about this precise thing: is there a way to simplify path or have kind of what the smooth tool on Ai does ?
i mean, a design is always better when we have less node used for the drawing.
as i said, maybe it's there and i just don't see it or maybe there is another way to do it with other tools or functions and here too i may not be aware of it.
Your lights and inputs will be of great help here.

Thanks

This has been asked before, but there is no specific smooth/simplify tool at the moment.

Absence of this feature keeps my Illustrator CS6 still alive :-)

Simplify curve is quite important. I can only hope that Serif's developers know that too.

I think they have a long list of features to add lol! but I think they want to up the game and not make a clone of illustrator but give Affinity users something better and more feature rich. I'm sure they have something in the pipeline but when that will appear is anybodies guess. Stick with it though I'm sure there will be many improvements and additional features in the 1.7 update.

Totally Agree

I bought Affinity but I am not using it because Affinity does not have a SMOOTH TOOL!

So very very Frustrating!

I am back to using Adobe Illustrator

I have seen numerous complaints from, artists, designers re no SMOOTH TOOL in Affinity.

Therefore PLEASE Affinity take note and add the SMOOTH TOOL!!!!!

3 years later, is this gap filled ? Is there a tool to decimate points from imported curve ?

For a long time there has been a "Smooth Curve" option in the "Action" group on the Context Toolbar when the Pen or Node tool is active, but it still works very poorly, if at all. 😕

Definitely better than nothing though. For what I needed today, it actually worked quite well.

Not for me, completely ruined a drawing that has some very obvious dire need of simplification:

Going to have to look at Illustrator or Inkscape again I guess.

I hadn't realised the need for this until yesterday. Then it really struck home. It would make a huge difference to be able to smooth rough curves. Took me about 2 hours to do what I needed. I just wanted a rough but incredibly detailed image to smooth out a bit and have far fewer points. Tried the smoth gizmo on the context bar, but it only did about a third of the job, still had to do a lot of fiddling.

Please can we have something more powerful and in particulat more progressive... rough, smoother, very smooth...Keeping the overall shape, but losing the sharp edges and point density as it goes.
