I have just got my iMac back from repair but its still got the same problem. I am still talking to apple and they have told me to test the iMac out for a couple of days to try and pin point the problem. I have a feeling it might be Affinity Photo as it seems to do it while this software is open or I am doing some photo editing. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had any problems or if I can do anything with the settings to see if it stops the problem. I have had the software since xmas time and only had problems the last few weeks.

Any ideas would be great

thanks

Aaron

Can you provide a screen shot that shows the lines you're describing?

Are the purple lines showing up all across the screen? Across all windows? Or is it only in Affinity? There is a setting for showing snapping candidates that high lites shapes w. purple lines. Other forum members have wondered about this too.

That’s abnormal! It looks like a problem with your display hardware or drivers: it’s certainly nothing to do with snapping candidates.

Yes I think it’s something wrong with the iMac hardware but it’s meant to have had the video card/logicboard replaced as that was coming up as faulty so I am told. I will keep trying it and post what my finding are. It hasn’t been as bad as the photo above yet but it is still flashing up with them lines.

This could be Your GPU or VRAM. This isn't good. So go back to the repairstore.

I thought it could be the GPU the first time. It will be going back to the repair company got to arrange it through apple. Lucky I have got apple care on it. So far today I haven't used Affinity Photo and its not happened I have only done a few bits on the internet so its not using much ram etc. Will try out some editing again as see what happens.

Lines come up again when using affinity Photo when opening photos.

Unfortunately, that certainly looks like a hardware related issue. The graphics subsystem in one of my older iMacs failed & produced very similar looking results: sometimes the lines only showed up after the Mac warmed up, or showed up in some windows but not others, or only in the desktop image behind open windows. The only thing constant about it was that it was erratic & got worse over time, eventually causing the iMac to crash.
