Label layers with colour

Recommended Posts

In Photoshop if you have a project containing many layers, you can more easily keep track of them by labeling them with a color assignment. (see attachment in this post for a simple example)

I thought Affinity Photo had something similar. Am I mistaken? (Perhaps I'm thinking about Affinity Designer, which I haven't gotten to dig into yet?)

If there's no equivalent feature quite like this in Affinity Photo, do any of you have suggestions for more easily keeping track of your layers for projects requiring lots of layers — other than giving each label sensible names? I tried looking through some of the tutorials and videos about using layers, but didn't see anything. I'm an advanced Photoshop user, and I'm really enjoying Affinity Photo as my chosen replacement for Photoshop. But sometimes there are certain minor tools in Photoshop that would come in rather hand in Affinity Photo.

Thanks in advance!

You cannot assign a colour to a layer yet, it has been asked for, whether that will be a feature added in the future only serif knows. You could Group the Layers and give the group a name. Group and Group Layers is essentially the same with no discernible difference I can find.
