How do I make a hollow rectangle, similar to the cog, but rectangular?

Recommended Posts

Hey party people,

I am just trying to figure out how to make a rectangle that I can hollow out, like the cog but rectangular, that I can use for a frame/border on a sign that I am designing. I did it already, using a way-too-complicated method that doesn't export well, and just want to do it simple and clean. I am using AD, but also have AP (although I haven't used it much). I've included the original for reference. Just trying to figure out how to make that border in a simple way.

If anyone has any advice here, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks!!!!!!

One way is to draw a rectangle with a stroke but no fill. Alternatively, draw a large rectangle and draw a smaller one inside it, and then select both shapes and choose the ‘Subtract’ Geometry command.
