[By Design] AD: Grouped Transparency adjustments normalises all contents.

Recommended Posts

Made a group of a few objects. Each has a different Opacity level.

Select group, change group's opacity, expecting entire group to reduce transparency in proportion to each individual member's transparency, but instead all members of the group have their opacity set to a common/normalised number as per the transparency slider.

The group on the left shows the problem.

You can't change the opacity of a group using the opacity slider on the colour panel. This control sets the opacity at a colour level for the selected object. If you select a group of objects and change the opacity there you are actually changing the opacity for all objects within the group, not to the group itself.

To change the opacity for a group/layer you must change the opacity slider in the Layers panel (on the left of the layer Blend modes).
