Initiate drag to duplicate operations without having to select object first

Currently, in order to duplicate an object by dragging and dropping, an AD user first needs to select that object, then ALT/option+drag.

 

Would be great if I could start duplicating immediately with ALT/option+drag without having to first select the object.

 

For those that do this a lot (like me :) ) it would be a huge time saver and keeper of the flow of things.

Or, even better. Simply duplicating the object by draging with the right mouse button pressed.

That's not generally better, it's possibly better as an alternative for those users in possession of a 2-button mouse, which is not the case if you're using the regular Apple Mouse or any of the Apple trackpads.
