tooppy
Hi, I did install Affinity photo on Win7 but today the update refuse to install "windows installer not find". I search all over the net, this problem is recurrent. I went on the MS support page and did downloaded and run their soft, nothing works except suppress it. Now Affinity photo is no more installed and I cannot install it anymore ! What a hell do you use " .msi " files ? All " .exe " are flawless ! And send customers to a forum in place of a real support is just making fun of them ! I am pissed off !

We "send" customers to the forum because this is monitored by Affinity Staff ("real support"). Can you attach a screenshot of the error message so we can have a look? " Thanks, Gabe. tooppy
Sure Gabe, but I guess it won't help much
Staff Gabe Posted June 11, 2018 Staff Share Posted June 11, 2018 Thank you. It is Microsoft Installer Service that's causing the issue. A quick search on Microsoft's website: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2642495/the-windows-installer-service-could-not-be-accessed-error-when-you-try

tooppy
Oh yes I did that too ! You have two choices, update and uninstall, I have done both, now Affinity is no more installed but cannot be re-install I have done the command lines msiexec /unreg & msiexec /servereg (or something like that) I also did this , as you can see all is good....but it doesn't work. Staff Gabe Posted June 11, 2018 Staff Share Posted June 11, 2018 It might be one of the following: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or higher not found Affinity requires Windows 7 Service pack 1 - this can be installed through Windows Update. DirectX 11 not found Affinity uses DirectX 11 acceleration to achieve smooth panning and zooming of the design canvas. - Please see https://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113 for how to install DirectX 11. Platform Update for Windows 7 not found Affinity requires the platform update for Windows 7. - Please see www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?id=36805
tooppy
I discover Java cannot be updated for the same reason. All Windows update are made but the latest NET Framework 4.7 cannot >>>> error code 13EC.
tooppy
The link you gave is to download > Windows6.1-KB2670838-x64.msu > which is already installed.

I suggest you get in touch with Microsoft Support and check what's going on.
tooppy
You are right but knowing the numerous problems with " .msi " files, it could have been avoided , just don't make use of it. The negative effect is that people would stop buying if there are often troubles, no matter whose responsability. Forget MS they are useless, they are going to push responsability to some other software and I have tried their supposed trouble shooting method, it doesn't work and the final point is that I cannot use Affinity Photo. I spent two days and I mean it, saturday and sunday all day trying to solve the problem , reading forums, trying what was proposed, screwing up a bit more, restoring, etc.... enough ! So what do you think will happen ? You look for something else , MS lose nothing but Affinity yes ! It is useless to be right but losing customers, like the driver who had the priority but he died in the car accident ! Gabe, I must thanks you very much for your time and patience, my rant isn't against you for sure. All the best.
tooppy
Gabe, I finally managed to install it. How ? Good question ! I have an auto update for Java and it proposed to update , I did and it went alright. So I immediatly try Affinity Photo and all was fine. Stange really.
